Martin Hellweg, Chairman of the Ally Management Group, primarily focuses on strategic repositionings, restructuring situations as well as financial and transaction management.

Today, Martin Hellweg is primarily active as a personal advisor and sparring partner for business leaders and owners. He focuses on the Ally key areas of Special Situations Management and Personal Advice. Mandates can take on very different forms, ranging from a second opinion on a corporate restructuring/repositioning, or managing an extraordinary crisis in the public spotlight, to a highly confidential change of the ownership structure under complex circumstances. All these assignments have in common that they benefit from an exceptional level of experience with extreme professional situations, challenging negotiations as well as complex strategic questions. This is what Martin Hellweg provides to his clients founded on a deep relationship of trust with his clients and under strict confidentiality.

Until 2014, Martin Hellweg assumed a general management role in order to lead companies through a transformation process, often combined with finding a buyer for the company on behalf of the ownership. As part of these activities, Martin Hellweg was Delegate of the Board of Directors and CEO of the Wetzel Processing Group, a globally leading company in the printing and embossing industry with its headquarter in Switzerland and operational activities in Germany and Poland. As the overall operational leader of the firm, his key tasks were to lead the company on a path of sustainable, profitable growth, to guide the company through a cultural and generational change and to find a new ownership on behalf of the family and founders of the firm. In one of his other prior engagements, Martin Hellweg served as Chairman of the Board of Swissmetal, an internationally active company in the non-ferrous metals sector. Following two decades of dramatically eroding market positions and numerous crisis situations, a three-person team of the Ally Management Group under the leadership of Martin Hellweg and working in the context of debt restructuring proceedings finally managed to  concentrate the company on its healthy core and find a new ownership providing a perspective for the future. As Member of the Executive Board of the Keramik Laufen Group, a Swiss-based, publicly-listed enterprise in the ceramics industry, Martin Hellweg successfully restructured his areas of responsibility, helped sell the company on behalf of the majority owner to the Roca Group and thus contributed to the formation of a leading global ceramics manufacturer.

During his professional career, Martin Hellweg furthermore worked as a management consultant as well as in several corporate finance functions. Martin Hellweg earned an MBA from the Simon Business School of the University of Rochester, New York, where he currently serves as a member of the Alumni Advisory Board and teaches in the combined American-Swiss branch of the program, the Rochester-Bern Executive MBA Program. Martin Hellweg furthermore tought regularly at the University of Bern.

Beyond the aforementioned activities, Martin Hellweg helps people who became victims of a digital attack in the context of the so-called Virtual Bodyguard. In this context, the German Econ Verlag published his book Safe Surfer – Protecting Your Privacy in the Digital Age containing tips on how to protect one’s privacy in the digital world. Martin Hellweg is a passionate musician, winemaker and traveller.
